Iran to establish 2 e-banks this year
Tehran, April 26, The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) decided to establish two
e-banks in the current Iranian year (started on March 20), it was reported on
Saturday.
CBI deputy for modern technologies, Mohammad-Hossein Mehrani, told IRNA that
Iranian experts were preparing necessary grounds for the banks.
After becoming operational, the Iranian e-banks would carry out all banking
transactions both inside and outside the country, Mehrani said.
He added that the banks would have no branches and their activities will be
concentrated at their headquarters.
Establishment of the e-banks would reduce the manpower expenses and would
develop Iran's banking system, he said.
E-banks mainly capitalize on the latest IT technology with a particular
strength in settlement services.
