Iran's commercial attache to Russia has put the value of Iran's exports to
Russia during March 2007-March 2008 at dlrs 3.25 billion.
Addressing a gathering of commercial attaches of European countries and Central
Asian countries in Tehran, Seyyed Mojtaba ousavian Rizi underlined that the
figure did not keep up with the real capabilities of both countries, calling
for boosting of trade exchanges between the two countries.
"Dlrs 250 million worth of commodities are exported to Russia," he said, adding
the Iranian tradesmen can get a bigger share of Russian markets for
themselves," he said.
Referring to the eight month-long freezing temperature in Russia, he stated
that Iranian businessmen can export fruits and vegetables to that country
during this period.
He said that Iranian companies are expected to adopt long-term programs in
order to have an active presence in the Russian market.
Mousavian Rizi cited wood, paper, ironware and machinery as the main items
imported from Russia.
