Iran's naval fleet retains Paris MoU White List
Islamic Republic of Iran is reinstated in the Paris Memorandum of Understanding
on Port State Control (Paris MoU) in 2008, director of Iran's Ports and
Shipping Organization Marine Protection said on Monday.
Mohammad-Reza Qaderi said that Iran's naval fleet was reinstated in the Paris
MoU White List thanks to the country's officials and experts' efforts in the
Ports and Shipping Organization who strictly controlled and inspected the
ships.
The Paris MoU, which originated in 1982, covers the waters of the European
coastal States and the North America to Europe. It aims at eliminating the
operation of sub-standard ships through a harmonized system of port state
control.
The Paris MoU 'White List' represents quality flags with a consistently low
detention record.
