Talks with Tbilisi are possible only after Georgia's troop withdrawal -diplomat
MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Talks can be held with Georgia only
after all Georgian troops are withdrawn to the separation line
stipulated by the 1992 treaty, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory
Karasin has said.
"If Georgia withdraws all its troops to the line that was agreed
upon in Dagomys in 1992, to the internationally recognized border, as of
that moment I believe it will be possible to discuss what is going to
happen next," he said in a Saturday interview with Reuters' and APTV
shown on Vesti 24 channel.
The time of starting the talks fully depends on the Georgian side,
Karasin said. "It depends on the Georgian leader, it does not depend on
us. We believe it is time to withdraw Georgian troops, all military
hardware to the 1992 border approved in the treaty and then talks can
start on what should be done next," he said.
He admitted that the talks will be complicated because "what the
Georgian government did was truly disgusting."
