253 Palestinians Die Due to Lack of Treatment in Gaza Gaza, October 21, 2008 (WAFA)- A Palestinian young man died last night in the Al-Shifa' Hospital, due to a lack of treatment in the Gaza Strip, which is being besieged by Israel since June 2007. Ahmad Al-Lahham suffered from cancer and was supposed to receive urgent medical care, but the Israeli Occupation Authorities refused to allow him to leave the Gaza Strip. Tens of patients cannot receive urgent medical treatment and risk their lives due to the closure of the crossing points. Medical utilities in Gaza suffer from shortage of material. They lack the equipment necessary for diagnosis or treatment, especially nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and radiotherapy. This makes it impossible to treat cancer, or to carry out urgent cardiac interventions, especially for children. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
