TEMPO Interactive, Washington, DC:US Foreign Minister Hillary Rodham Clinton
will be visiting Jakarta on February 18, said Indonesian Vice President Jusuf
Kalla following his meeting with US vice president, Joseph Biden, at the White
House in Washington, yesterday.

"At the cabinet meeting, Minister Hillary said she would only visit three
countries; Japan, China, and South Korea. But President Barack Obama reminded
her to visit Indonesia," Kalla said.

"This means the US government regards Indonesia's role to be important," Kalla
added.

Indonesian Ambassador to the US, Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat explained that in
Jakarta Hillary will meet with Foreign Minister Nur Hassan Wirajuda and
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"We have just approved her visa," said an officer at Indonesian Embassy in
Washington.

The Kalla - Biden meeting was the first bilateral meeting at the White House
since Obama's inauguration 16 days ago. "We never expected you to have the
initiative to visit here," Biden said, quoted by Kalla.

The 45-minute meeting discussed various topics, from economic issues to
Palestine. During his visit in Washington, Kalla also met with Senator
Christopher Bond, Senator Jim Web, National Intelligence director Dennis Blair
and a number of American businessmen.
