Japanese megabanks are planning to maintain new graduate recruitment at
high levels in the spring of 2010, while manufacturers intend to
considerably reduce such recruitment due to the economic downturn, industry
sources said Tuesday.
Learning lessons from previous substantial recruitment cuts which
distorted the age composition of their workforces amid a slump in the 1990s,
the megabanks are hoping to maintain high levels of annual recruitment
though lower than in recent years, they said.
