*Small satellite Maido No. 1 succeeds in observing thunder*

Maido No. 1, a small satellite launched along with the Greenhouse Gases
Observing Satellite Ibuki last month, has succeeded in observing
electromagnetic waves emitted by thunder, Osaka University officials said
Monday.
The result of a trial observation conducted last week is expected to
pave the way for the forecasting of thunder using multiple satellites.
