Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, turned yellow on Tuesday as a
massive sandstorm hit the city.
The residents of the Saudi capital spent most of Wednesday cleaning the
layers of sand deposited by the storm off the streets, houses and cars.
The storm prompted Saudi authorities to close down the country's
international airport and to send schoolchildren home. Hospitals dispatched
emergency teams to assist the dozens of people who suffered breathing
difficulties due to the thick dust.
