This Policy Brief is part of a two year study project on “Post Tsunami Reconstruction in the Contexts of War” involving researchers from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and several other countries. The study is organized by the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES) with funding from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. Malathi de Alwis (ICES) leads a team focusing on Sri Lanka, while Eva-lotta Hedman (Oxford) leads a team focusing on Aceh/Indonesia. Sunil Bastian provides consultation on linking the research with policy. The Aceh Institute co-hosted the project’s workshop and conference in 2006-2008.
