Kuwaiti authorities must ensure women's right to join judiciary Published Date: November 26, 2009 KUWAIT: MP Salwa Al-Jassar has said that Kuwait's highest authorities must take action to ensure that women have the right to serve in senior judicial positions in the country. There are many highly qualified and experienced Kuwaiti women ready to work in such positions, said Al-Jassar, pointing out that the participation of four female MPs, including herself, in the Kuwaiti parliament's legislative and supervisory proves that it is high time that such a decision was taken. She asserted that Kuwait's female MPs would push this issue in the parliamentary women's and legislative committees, and would, if necessary, invite those concerned such as the ministers of justice or Awqaf, reported Al-Jarida. Al-Jassar said that the strongly believes in the need for a family court to be established, so that emotive issues concerning families, divorce, wills and alimony among other subjects, do not get mixed up with other cases.
