Make _absolutely_ sure that both colours use the same colour model, define your private white if you have to
\definecolor{rgb}{RGBwhite}{1,1,1}
\definecolor{rgb}{RGBblack}{0,0,0}
\vpagecolor[RGBblack]{RGBwhite}
should work
