After talking offline we decided the best way forward would be to provide here some feature flag [CASSANDRA-18301](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-18301) could piggyback upon or replace. Hence I'll add that with the underlying assumption mixed version clusters (5.0 nc <-> 5.0 oa) will always communicate on the lower common MessagingVersion in the cluster keeping things coherent. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
