Sorry, I should have been more clear; compile gcc *and binutils* manually (they're usually used as a pair). That way you'll get GNU binutils and not OSX's. Also, you'll get the original GNU gcc and not Apple's patched one --- I don't believe Apple's gcc will generate ELF files, for example, which Prex needs.
