I logged in to http://hogranch.com/mailman/options/prime , where I discovered that turning off the monthly reminders is an option, so I did so immediately. I do not remember setting the option that I should get my login id and password, so I assume that that choice must be the default when one signs up for the mailing list. The default should be OFF, not ON. I still believe that passwords should be encoded before going to the server.
