It seems our physics friend wants to be rich as well as famous. Ignoring the possibility of some “big time” recognition, like a Fields medal, which wouldn’t come for years, the prospect of $10,000 doesn’t seem to excite him much. But barring some major programming effort, the possibility of the “big prize” for a 10 million digit MPrime, seems the only other thing we could offer him. Perhaps if money is his goal, he’s talking to the wrong folks. Maybe the federal government would be more interested in a fast factoring algorithm…
