I know these questions are unanswerable, but I have a poorly performing computer and would appreciate some troubleshooting suggestions. I have several Dell Optiplex boxes running 34M exponents and get iteration times anywhere from .059 to .072. These are all 3GHz+ CPU's, 1GB RAM.
There is one outlier that is getting .122 iteration times. It has a 3.00 GHz P4 CPU. I have looked at the task list and Prime95 is getting 98% of the cycles. I have run adware and spyware removers. After a reboot, I will sometimes see a couple of iteration times of .076 or so, but it always goes back to >.12 quickly and I do not see these shorter iteration times with every reboot. This seems slow to me. Any thoughts of what this could be due to, especially if task list is showing me P95 with all the CPU cycles? -steve Stephan Grupp MD PhD Director, Stem Cell Biology Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Oncology/BMT ARC 902 3615 Civic Center Blvd. Philadelphia, PA 19104-4318 phone 215-590-2821 fax 215-590-9080
