Ryan, You provided the temp for the CPU (60c) and the case (40c) but what was the temp in the room at that time. Have you checked to be sure the case is in a position that allows air to flow well into and out of its air holes. Be sure it is not blocked by a wall or furniture also be sure it is not located close to some other device that might be putting out lots of hot air.

regards
Michael

I'm just curious... at what CPU temperature & system temperature should I
become worried? I recently purchased my high-end Pentium 4 system.. over
the past couple days (during hot weather), I have noticed that the CPU
temperature went as high as 60C and the system temperature went beyond 40C.
Should I consider additional fans, if so does anyone have brand/type
suggestions? I've heard that brand&placement of fans are more important
than quantity.

if your case has a place to mount an aux fan, I'd get one and see if that helps. its pretty typical for your CPU core temp to be about 20C above case ambient, but 40C is a high case temp, so moving more fresh air through the system will hugely help the CPU heatsink/fan do its job.
