I was therefore not surprised to see the P4 do better
than the Athlon for the LL tests. But was a little
surprised to see the Athlon show considerably faster
times over every bit-depth of factoring, with the
higher the bit-depth the more the Athlon blew the P4
away.

v24 has many enhancements for factoing by 64-bit machines. Therefore the Athlon64 now outshines the P4 in factoring.

It made me curious. Does anybody know which would be
faster for P-1 and ECM testing?

My guess, and this is just a guess, is that the P4 remains better as P-1 and ECM generate instructions that are more similar to the LL testing code than the factoring code.

And maybe as a suggestion, have these timings added to
the benchmarks Prime95 generates?

If you benchmark with v24.13, you will find that it gives timings for trial factoring also. There is nothing for ECM/P-1 but if my guess above is correct, just use the appropriate LL test FFT timing.

As a final comment, if you do a lot of ECM, try GMP-ECM 6.0 for stage 2 as it is much faster than Prime95.
