Folks, I've done so much whinging on this alias about temperature control, I'd better publish the solution I've found. The toolset at http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html is excellent. One utility tracks your temperature and fan speeds and allows you to modify the fan speed vs. temperature settngs. I've been using it for some time and it's 100% reliable. The other which I've just started using, allows you to set the speed of a variable-speed CPU. Works great on my Pentium M. So, I can downspeed the cpu when I'm concerned about heat, like the initial factoring part of a Mersenne test, or when I don;t want the noise of the fan on full. Hope that helps, Greg E
