I think that the best way is to write a paper explaining the 
algorithm as best as you can, then submit the paper to a peer 
reviewed math magazine.

One possibility is that they will tell you that you have found 
something already known.  Or, they may publish the paper, and 
then, that's it!!, you will be famous!!

Or, having wrote that paper, you may make sure that it was at 
your possession the date it says it was.  For example, by having 
the local post office stamp its pages, or by depositing a copy at 
a place with warrant and authority, or in case by asking a 
lawyer.  Then, you send it to one of our learned members, and 
they may answer your question without putting themselves in the 
risk to steal someone else's idea.

Try some keyword searching at google, or better at 
scholar.google.com . If there is something somewhere, it should 
come up.
