I did the same thing when I got my dual core and was annoyed when they 
went out of sync. I'd occasionally reverse the affinity to try to keep 
them in the ball park. Eventually I stopped. Now I feel free to boost 
the maximum amount of RAM available to them simply because they are out 
of sync.

When I added more RAM and switched to the 64bit version of Prime95, I 
upped it to 6GB (of 8GB) and stage two happily used it all. I didn't 
leave them at 6GB however. That seemed a little excessive. A miniscule 
2GB seems more reasonable. :-)
