Personally, I don't think that the returns from overclocking are worth
it if your machine is producing any errors at all. But many machines can
be easily overclocked 20-50% without any errors. The degree of safe
overclocking depends on the hardware, weather, dust buildup and your CPU
cooler. The CPU matters - Core 2 CPUs are excellent for overclocking, as
does the quality of your motherboard and RAM.

The best way to check that a machine is producing error-free results -
and trust me, machines that are not overclocked produce errors as well -
is to do a few doublechecks every once in a while and cross-check the
correctness of the results. I would recommend starting a new machine
with a month of doublechecking and tossing in a doublecheck every once
in a while - more at the start of the summer i.e. now!

While the v5 server is still in beta-testing and the results displayed
are currently not real-time - they are updated every two weeks or so I
believe - you can still check your results on the page at
http://v5www.mersenne.org/report_ll/

Put in your exponent on the first field of the exponent range - leaving
the second field blank or with a value less than the first field will
return only results for your exponent. And make sure none of the exclude
boxes is checked.
