NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER: EGYPT'S HIDDEN TREASURES
The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is a world-renown treasure house filled with some of the
ancient world's most precious artifacts, including the famed burial mask of King
Tutankhamun and the Royal Mummies of Luxor. Its collection is so large that the museum
lacks the space to exhibit all of its wondrous relics. Some items haven't been seen
since they were excavated from Egypt's archaeological sites as far back as 100 years
ago. Locked away in dusty crates, scores of priceless artifacts remain all but
forgotten in the museum's basement.
What secrets does the museum hold? EXPLORER joins National Geographic
Explorer-in-Residence and Secretary General of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities
Dr. Zahi Hawass on a mission to find out. Hawass will reveal some of these hidden
treasures for the first time in a special exhibition to celebrate the museum's 100th
