got it! The problem was, that Opensolaris doesn't ship with the correct driver (Why???)
Here is what I have done: wget http://openprinting.org/foomatic-db/db/source/PPD/HP/HP_Color_LaserJet_2605.ppd gzip HP_Color_LaserJet_2605.ppd chmod 444 HP_Color_LaserJet_2605.ppd.gz su cp HP_Color_LaserJet_2605.ppd.gz /usr/share/ppd/SUNWfoomatic/HP/ svcadm restart svc:/application/print/ppd-cache-update:default Then start print manager and configure... Only one question is left: Although I have chosen the printer as the standard printer I always have to access it with the printer name, lpq -PHP for example.
