More on tariffs and bans against Chinese (or other countries') goods

China is a repressive Communist regime. However, for decades U.S.
firms have voluntarily handed manufacturing dominance to China, in
order to benefit their own profits. U.S. consumers have become
dependent on this arrangement, and U.S. manufacturers overall have
shown little interest in "making quality stuff" again at reasonable
prices.

When import restrictions and/or tariffs are applied to a foreign
country, it should be for valid reasons that will promote valid
outcomes. Not for political reasons (especially fake national security
claims).

There are certainly valid discussions to be had regarding our
relationship with China. But when you dig down into the motives behind
these kinds of tariffs and bans, you find very little but politics in
play. -L
