Even with the disclaimer, you are pretty much guaranteed
that the data a patient inputs, will have inaccuracies. I don't believe that
this would be acceptable with the HIPPA guidelines(I may be
wrong). The whole key to the X12 system is following transactions from
provider right on down the line. Having patients input this data I consider to
much of a risk, especially when it comes to privacy. Not only that but this
would run the risk of other avenues of insurance(Life, LTC etc..). The
system would also forgo accounting for disclosure, and at that point who is
liable for inaccuracies entered by patients.
Just my 2 cents. I may be way off base, but seems very
risky. People could hack the site, liability concerns, and HIPPA
compliance, are just a few of my concerns.
