Oliver, Logic does have a reasonably good scoring facility for a midi sequencer, much better than the one in Cubase, for instance, in my opinion. In the past I used it for all my composition work. But not really a dedicated scoring programme.
Finale is a very powerful program, but many people, myself included, find it arcane and hard to use, with a steep learning curve. There is a completely free version, Finale Notepad, which you could always download and try. Sibelius is powerful and well-designed, particularly in terms of user interface. One of the original design aims seems to have been a very well thought-out set of key commands, and the manual even recommends learning to use the program with the mouse on the floor! We have a blind student at the college we teach in who is just starting to learn it. Two problems; I'm finding it hard to braille the key commands for him because of the way the helpfiles are laid out, and Supernova always jumping away to the wrong part of the screen... Cheers, -- J.
