Just like car manufacturers and nearer to home - film manufacturers. How
many of us remember the trials and tribulations of E2, E3 and even E4
processing or the early Kodak colour negative films? Any colour went; as
long as it wasn't black and white!! Even digital cameras suffer from the
same syndrome. The difference being; they bring out a new model within a
month of the old one being released, because they haven't thought through
all the complex uses that we - the professionals actually require in a piece
of kit. Or am I being too cynical? Over to you Kodak, Canon and Nikon and
any other manufacturer for that matter!! I have just finished off a bottle
of Pinotage!!

Two hours later and more thoughtful!! Perhaps if we - the universal research
and trials team were not around, we might not have reached the digital stage
by now. We might just have still been taking photographs on glass plates
coated in orthochromatic emulsions!!

I have just discovered that the spelling check does not recognise the word
'orthochromatic' - I rest my case !!!!!!!!!

Yes, I am a Granddad!!!
