Either follow the recommendations you've been given to have the negs scanned on a drum scanner; or if you're determined to do it yourself, get some of the mounting gel/oil and cover sheets used in drum scanning and mount the film to your flatbed scanner the same way. Its been ages since I did this, but the results were very good. Its a royal pain to do, especially for someone who does it rarely but it will give you the best scans you've ever seen out of your flatbed scanner. Hiring someone to drum scan the images is certainly simpler, but I can appreciate the desire to "do it yourself".

I have acquired some Anti-Newton spray. Should I spray this onto the film or

quality? Do I have to clean it off afterwards?
