I am considering buying a Pantone Colorvision Spyder (taking advantage of
dpreview.com's special offer). It can be bought with PhotoCAL or OptiCAL,
the former being a cut down, 'wizard' style version.

My question is, if I buy OptiCAL will I understand, let alone use, all the
options available. They are supposed to give a better profile, but unless
the software is very straightforward, I guess it follows that one could
screw up and create a worse one! I use an Apple 22" cinema display. So far
it has been fairly spot on in terms of colour (judging from prints from a
calibrated printer, and work printed by clients), however I know this is
somewhat risky.

If anyone has thoughts about the above, I would be grateful.
