In the days of simple "photos" it was different because there was really only one version of the image. My work being pretty much exclusively web based, I find I have a number of different versions of images with regard to montages, size and file formats. That of course is all manageable - but what has really changed is that clients expect you to produce the image pretty much immediately - and at no extra charge. But that goes back to various recent and oft repeated threads on charging.
I had a problem only yesterday when I had an image in Cumulus and also on a
hard disk and couldn't find the d..n thing. The idea of more files is a worry
if I don't find a way of sorting better.
Bob - I agree in that we are all having to become efficient filing clerks. I have "sort of" evolved my own reasonably efficient file naming system so that I have a rough idea how to find what I'm looking for but I still find I waste an inordinate amount of time trying to find files.
