Dear me, all this fuss over a little smoke... Get a cheap airbed-inflator
pump, bellows type, and insert a small cigar (from Lidl, not Havana) into
the inlet valve via rubber tubing & tape; onto the outlet valve fix
sufficient tubing to reach the setup, perhaps emerging behind the coffee
cup. Gently pumping with one foot produces a healthy stream of smoke/steam
and leaves both hands free - and mouth unsullied by deadly carcinogens.
Sounds far-fetched but I've used it to simulate e.g. smoke emerging from a
gun muzzle.
