Janus.... When I got my S2, I also bought an SB-80DX and as far as I can tell, it's fully compatible. But honestly, I don't understand all of the features of that flash. I've just been sticking it on there and letting it do its thing and the pictures seem to come out great. It works great on (P) program mode but I like to drag the shutter a little to get more background light so I use it on Shutter Priority mode and choose a slower shutter speed... I've been getting good results. Mostly what I use the flash for is just setting it on manual with 1/16 power to fire other slaved strobes. I haven't shot weddings in some 15 years, but I still have the responsibility fall to me to shoot weddings of close relatives. I did my niece's wedding a couple of weeks ago and I was happy with the way the flash worked with the camera.
