Dear Ian

Surprisingly AP is considered one of the best magazines in the country for
payment of freelance submissions. This is mostly because they are weekly and
use a lot of outside contributors.

A few years ago I was approached by a freelance writer to do a puff piece on
my work. I considered it to be useful free PR for myself and provided a few
pictures not expecting payment. Like you I was surprised to get £240 in the
post. If only all self promotion was so easy.

but well I was a little naïve then, anyway. They kept my work on file

and said they wanted to publish in a special edition, so they did this

christmas edition. So after 12 months something. Yes I know, I wasn’t

expecting any monies, but a cheque arrived this morning for inclusion,

after no mention of any payment. >>
