I'm finally getting this off.
I am Rich Schwab. I started doing photographic darkroom work when my
uncle helped me set up a B/W lab when I was 8 years old in 1948.
Hooked! Started doing weddings and portraits while in my teens, then
(after college) industrial and commercial photography in my twenties.
Got interested in colour separation work related to printing, so went
back to school in Southern California for a few more years. Lots of
darkroom work before processors, lots of back masking on huge process
type cameras. Then came drum scanners, Scitex, Mac and Photoshop along
with electronic colour correction and retouching.
A number of years back I started my own company dealing with ColorSync
on the Mac as well as colour management on Windows. I do consulting and
implementation. My company is Color Target Consulting in Colorado
Springs, USA and in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Funny thing is that colour
management is being used in the States more and more, but I'm not
finding very much interest here in the UK, even though it would save
designers, printers, and agencies etc. loads of time and money in the
long run. I can't figure it out.
Anyway, I am semi-retired, but would be happy to help those who would
like and need to take some of the guesswork away from colour
reproduction. I've been in the business for almost 40 years.
By the way, I am still hooked on photography and have recently acquired
a Minolta 7i digital camera. Took it to Rome recently and was impressed
with the results. Still have, and use several film cameras as I have
film scanners that do professional quality output (something I also
provide through my company).
I think I am running on here.
Thanks,
Richard Schwab
