In case this helps, we have all our work areas painted a matt grey and find it very restful . When the new scanning room was decorated we actually matched the Macbeth Neutral 5 density. This was checked with our Spectro after a test areas was painted and it was totally neutral and this paint does not seem to be effected by metamerism.
