Others here may say different but I wouldn't bother. In eight years
online I haven't seen one that will affect a Mac. I suppose there's a
concern about passing one on to a Windows user though, although I've
seen the ones I've received and deleted them and, as they can't run on a
Mac, that's as far as they get.

If you're getting four Kernel Panics in one day, there's a problem with
your installation, not with OS X itself; this has to be a problem local
to your machine. Are you sure it was a Kernel Panic? Was there a lot of
white text on a black screen? You mention 'Grey screen events' but
Kernel Panics don't look like that...

I'm assuming you've run fsck -y and 'Repair Permissions' and it reports
that the 'Disk is OK'?
