Dear List,

Lyson have just announced the release of a bulk ink CIS system for the
new Epson 2100 at Focus on Imaging (230 + VAT excluding inks -
a seven channel inkset is 15 + VAT per 125ml bottle or 69.95
+ VAT for 1 Litre bottles). First orders for systems + inksets being
delivered to customers second week in March. Full info and pics
being posted to marrutt.com website midday 30th Feb.

We (Marrutt Digital) are appearance testing two Lyson inksets for this
printer........

The first is a Lyson seven-channel pigment inkset, which at present
appears to limit the range of papers which can be used to fast-drying
media only.

The other (which I prefer) is a seven-channel Lyson Fotonic dye-based
inkset, which allows you to print on all the usual brands of media, profiles
well to give a wide colour gamut as well as excellent neutral smooth
monochrome, no major metamerism, and with the new Lyson Photogenix
media coatings, yields an estimated indoor longevity of 80 years.

The question is, which inkset does the list prefer? - Dye-based or Pigment?

Feedback from the Exhibition indicated that the majority of visitors
preferred the dye-based inks for their ability to print on all their usual
favourite papers, but we are obviously concerned that the general trend
seems to favour pigment inks at present - please help!

Best Wishes,
