This is my introductory posting.

I am a fine art wet darkroom photographer just getting started with
digital photography. In my wet darkroom, I produce B&W and color prints
(Ilfochrome). I do unsharp highlight and contrast masking for most of
my Ilfochrome prints. For my digital efforts, I have a state-or-the-art
Dell Dimension 8200. I have a CanoScan 4000FS and an Epson Stylus Photo
2200. I also have access to a wide format Epson printer. So far, I
feel that Epson prints although quite good, do not have the saturation
and brilliance of Ilfochrome.

I do not yet have a digital camera but am scanning in transparencies and
B&W and color negatives using VueScan. I am reluctant to purchase a
digital body but am leaning toward the Canon 1Ds and hoping the price
will come down. (I already have several Canon lenses and bodies.)
However, I have not yet been convinced of the advantage of digital vs.
film. On camera storage is expensive. I believe for a given weight and
volume film is still the best choice.

I have been educating myself with PhotoShop 7 and am pleased with my
progress.

I found out about prodig from Martin Evenings web site. (I think his
book AP7fP is excellent and the best I have found.)

I look forward to my association with prodig and am sure I will learn a
lot.
