An architect I know has asked if I can suggest a way he can shoot a building
site over a year and animate the results (and having had experience of
builders that could become two years).

A while back I did a round the world timelapse using several Nikon Coolpix
995s with their remote control. The quality was certainly good enough
because TV monitors are only 72pdi (I believe).

I'd like to recommend a system he can buy and operate himself
(inexpensively). He'd like to shoot a frame an hour. In an ideal world it
would be great to be able to program it to shoot during daylight hours only,
but this might be asking too much.

Shall I suggest he buys a secondhand 995 with accessories, or is there a
better route?

Many thanks

Richard Lewisohn
