Surely bang on topic -- keeping one's digital camera running.

Just a word of warning -- I used to have an inverter (not Maplins) that
worked fine in just such circumsnaces, but one day it completely ruined two
separate battery chargers for my mobile phone. I checked the output voltage
and it was well within limits, so I could only conclude that the problem
was that it gives out square wave AC, being a simple device.

However, Maplins do sell a more expensive inverter that produces a proper
sine wave, which I bought when they were doing a special offer back in
January (75). It seems to work OK though it occasionally gives an audible
whine when the laptop saves, for some reason! But so far no ruined
equipment. It would be worth considering the sine-wave version just to be
on the safe side.
