(is the sharpening only applied to the jpg' ?) or is it all best left to photoshop?
Dear Stephen, I suggest you buy the actions from http://www.fredmiranda.com/ especially the sharpening ones and the interpolating ones. Apply no sharpening when you shoot and use the fred miranda actions to sharpen as you get no artifacts sharpening this way. I have stopped using usm on my digital files from my d100 as a lot of people don't know how to apply usm and they complain of unsharp images. I was applying some usm, only to find that they sharpened them in the rip software (not even knowing it existed, so getting loads of artifacts). So using fred mirandas actions to sharped before supply, I have had no problems as yet. Plus you can create and action to do this while you go have a cup of tea or done some other work. I have also had silly complaints that say the images don't look sharp at 100% on screen, when the repro size is 6 cm high (that's when I left the sharpening up to them). It isn't until I point out to them that 100 % on a d100 image is about 1m high is you use the screen res of 72 dpi. cheers Ian Reynolds =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
