Dear Amanda

You could try looking at the www.stockphoto.net archive or asking the question there.

This sounds like the agency is Getty. You should seriously consider joining the Stock Artists Alliance if you are thinking of signing with them. The SAA was originally formed because of problems and misgivings about the Getty contract. see

I know that your question has come up on one of these forums recently. As far as I remember the criteria is that the file will have the detail and technical requirements without using GF. Not that a small file can be cheated in some way.

This question crops up many times on these newsgroups and there does seem to be general confusion about the issue.

I spoke with Pete Dean the other day. He has shot covers successfully on his D60 and now has a 1ds. He runs his own stock library and said that the 1ds is good enough for "general" stock while the D60 was not. His comparison was with 645 drum scans. see www.agripicture.com

This argument is a bit like the 35mm v medium format the libraries had years ago. I can only say that MF sold better than 35mm. 6x9 dupes from 35mm sell better than the originals. Depends whether you are after sales or not.

Now, I know that 11mp is better than 6mp but as they are talking about A4 at
300dpi I think that the D60 and the 10D are capable of excellent quality
(upsized in Genuine Fractals). Also, as they have already rejected the
Nikon D100 do you think this will be an unwinnable case? (I am assuming the
D100 produces similar quality to the D60 but I don't know as I have never
used the Nikon).
