Hi Steve,
Below I hope will help you:

1. No to infrared port, iBook does not have one, you can buy USB infrared
adaptor but sadly these only work in 10.2 > .
2. Bluetooth with a USB adaptor (from 20) is a no no in 9, fine in 10.2.
3. The next route open to you that will work in 9 (very well I hear) is
SoftGSM <http://www.softgsm.com/> downside it's expensive, 80 I think.

My advise to you would be to move to 10.2 and use a Bluetooth adaptor,
obviously you should pick a mobile with Bluetooth. SonyEricsson models will
work the best in terms of syncing names etc, look at the T68 or the new
T610. Even if you go with SoftGSM in 9 would be best for the future to go
with a phone that has Bluetooth, sadly Nokia seem to lagging behind in this
respect.

If you need any more or help with GRPS settings etc email me back.

Regards,

James.
