Not sure about abbreviation but have you had experience of serious aberration and with what equipment?
I have seen some quite bad colour fringing, viewing at high magnification a canon 1Ds file shot with a relatively old lens. Here there was a shift in red. This can be cured with software but it is obviously better to not have the need to resort to this. I believe that some of the new 'digital specific' wide lenses for the smaller chip 135mm style cameras are good and that the problem is really affecting the 'full frame' cameras.
This site does quite in depth reviews of lenses. Sorry I could not give any specific recommendations.
