Good work Paul. This has been suspected for some time. I have a 1290 but
bought a Lyson Small Gamut CIS from Marrutt for the printer. One advantage
is that I can see when the bottles are empty and will hopefully be able to
'wring the last drop out'.

Would changing to Lyson cartridges make any difference? Not sure.

Is it that the chip is detecting that the ink is 'low' and the driver picks
up this 'fact' and tells you OR is it that the chip knows the real ink level
but the driver warns that ink is low too early. Mmmm....

Whichever is the case, once low ink levels are detected the error light
comes on and printing is impossible until a new cartridge is in place.

I have Lyson cartridges in my 895 and will open them up when 'empty' and let
you all know what I find.

Regards

Paul
