<I saw on another list you recommend Katrin Eismann's book Photoshop Restoration and Retouching, and i was wondering if you knew of "Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby ... i was thinking of buying just one of them, and was wondering if you think one is better (for a general photoshop user and digital shooter).
Cheers, slater> Hi! May I recommend the Eismann book first and foremost for photographers. In my opinion, it's THE best book for retouching images, and I've read most all of them, and I own several. If you can learn what she teaches in this book, you'll be able to do 95% of everything you need to do in retouching. After Eismann, Evening's book is good (either PS6 or 7), as well as Haynes Photoshop Artistry books (either PS6 or 7). Lots of good reading and knowledge in these books--well worth owning. I get just about every photoshop book that deals with photography through the public library and buy the ones that will be of service. I have the three books listed above by Eismann, Evening and Haynes. These do not get "Loaned" but are weekly (if not daily) references. I found Kelby's book to be not very interesting or informative, but that's just my opinion. I went through his whole book in about an hour and didn't glean anything not available elsewhere in better form. YMMV. The Eismann book is in a second edition so if you're buying new, look for it. Worth every dollar you pay for it.
