The Economist today, 19 Aug , had an article about a high speed scanning camera that
has
just one mono pixel.
subject is illuminated by rgb laser beams, a mirror is moved by actuators in scan mode
light reflected through a lens onto the pixel and a high res picture obtained.
the device is made by
http://www.microvision.com/
and is primarily aimed at miniature cameras for use in places like endoscopes.

Makes interesting reading and is yet another approach to digital capture
