maybe a cludge but it seems to work well

I'd try image>mode>grayscale
image>mode>duotone

import a tritone setting and adjust the curves til you see what you
want on a well profiled screen

sorry to bring in colour management nut if you can't see what you're
actually doing it's difficult to get this right.

then image mode RGB (unless you plan to print with special inks that is) 
and save

send to lambda
